"Great impact, not only with her exceptional virtuosity, but also with her ability to capture the intent of the composer" ... "great sense of style - emotional strength - impressive quality in performance..."

This is how composers and critics described Chiu-Ling Lin - internationally renowned pianist and educator - after her tour of Peru, Argentina, and Brazil as the United States Information Agency's Artistic Ambassador to Latin America.

An energetic and passionate performer, Dr. Lin plays before enthusiastic audiences around the world. Reviewers write that she makes compositions "soar with her joyous and skilled interpretation. She translated all of Mozart's exuberance and romanticism with an ease and naturalness which was a thrill to witness."

Dr. Lin made her Carnegie Recital Hall debut as the winner of the East and West Young Artist Auditions. She has soloed with fourteen orchestras, including the Atlanta Symphony, the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony, and the Des Moines Symphony, where she currently serves as the Principal Keyboard Player. Appearances in New York, Boston, Chicago, England, Canada and throughout the Far East have featured Dr. Lin's unique mix of music by Chinese and Western composers. Her virtuosity is showcased in a new CD, "Portraits of China."

As an acclaimed chamber artist, critics call Dr. Lin's ensemble playing "a richly emotional experience for the audience ... including beauty, power, energy and excitement - as well as a complete unity of musical and emotional intention..." She has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Marina Piccinini, Marcos Granados and Ignat Solzhenitsyn. In the summer of 2003, she was a chamber music coach at the Madeline Island Music Festival in Wisconsin.

Dr. Lin is a committed educator who received her bachelor's degree from New England Conservatory of Music and her master's and doctoral degrees from Indiana University. Her 30 years of college teaching experience include positions as Chair of the Music Department and Professor of Piano at Drake University in Des Moines, IA and Artist-in-Residence at Indiana University at South Bend. At Drake, she recruited scores of exceptional students, many of whom have succeeded in professional music careers.

The great demand for Dr. Lin's workshops for piano teachers and master classes at home and abroad attests to her gift for inspiring both colleagues and the next generation of young musicians. As a widely respected adjudicator, Dr. Lin has been a judge in the Joanna Hodges International Competitions, Spokane Musical Arts Festival, and many MTNA state events, including auditions in Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Minnesota, Iowa, New Jersey, and New York.   Since her arrival to New Jersey in August 2005, she has given solo recitals in Singapore and Westminster Choir College and concerts featuring Hispanic, Chinese and Left-handed repertoire. She was appeared as concerto soloist with the Manalapan Symphony Orchestra in New Jersey and Bemidji Orchestra in MN. This April, she is invited to give a master class for the Piano Teachers Congress in Steinway Hall in New York City.

Lin is currently on the Board of the New Jersey Music Teachers Association and will be the next President-Elect for the state. She is also on the committee of the National Pedagogy Conference, contributes to the Keyboard Companion Magazine and records for the FJH Publishing Company. http://www.njmta.com/conference2007.php
